This release hits the streets on July 9, 2002. The label is distributed by Caroline in the U.S., and radio promotion is being handled by The Syndicate. Only A Suggestion is Hermano`s debut full-length release on Tee Pee Records. The album was recorded at Ultrasuede Studios in Cincinatti, OH, in April 1999 and January 2000. Additional recording was done at Trenton West Studio in Trenton, OH, in February 2000. The album was produced by Steve "Dandy" Brown of Orquesta del Desierto fame. Hermano is the brainchild of Dandy Brown. He dreamed of bringing together a few of his greatest performers to record a rock album. Dandy Brown knew Steve Earle, and his incredible drumming, from Earle`s Afghan Whigs days. John Garcia (Kyuss, Unida) and David Angstrom (Black Cat Bone) he knew as label-mates and from their tenure in Supafuzz. These players along with the intensely mesmerizing guitar-playing of Mike Callahan (Disengage) and Brown`s own contributions on bass, organ, and piano completed the line-up. Most of the album came together very quickly. The rest was done over a series of cross-country tape trades. The album pulses with unique musical phrasings and heavy hitting rock riffs. It harkens back to both 70`s classic rock and to more contemporary sounds such as Fatso Jetson and Queens of the Stone Age. However, the driving rhythms and Thin Lizzy-like melody lines set it apart. Hermano are John Garcia on vocals, Steve Earle on drums, Mike Callahan and David Angstrom on guitar, Dandy Brown on bass, organ, and piano. The eight tracks on the album are 1. "The Bottle," 2. "Alone Jeffe," 3. "Manager`s Special," 4. "Seor Moreno`s Introduction," 5. "Seor Moreno`s Plan," 6. "Landetta (Motherload)," 7. "5 to 5," and 8. "Nick`s Yea." Tee Pee Records is based in Brooklyn, NY and will release albums by Raging Slab, Bad Wizard, and All Night in the coming months. Visit the label and the bands online at www.teepeerecords.com. |
