Accolades for Firewater
Damnation Gulch are some top notch players putting out some serious riff guitar rock with tons of twists, heavy goodness and thick tones. Vocals are strong and melodic with tons of dirty southern blues grit behind it. Guitars are overdriven nicely- great blues/metal leads. Some of this stuff reminds me of Dixie Witch for certain, while some of the songs are completely different from the general vibe with mandolins and banjo-esque guitars. Get this one if you dig on Dixie Witch or Mississippi Sludge, it's swamp metal blues that will get played often. Also if you are into blistering blazing bad ass lead guitar, this one is a must...guitars just tear honor from beginning to end with no remorse.
This is southern-style drinking n smoking music for warping your mind while you apply another layer of special habanero sauce to that rack of ribs out back. Damnation Gulch is all about southern-friend goodness played to the 9s. Useful references would be Sixty Watt Shaman, Zakk Wylde, Super Heavy Goat Ass, and above all the mighty Halfway to Gone. If youre thinking old school, think Skynyrd (one song is full of Skynyrd lyrical references), ZZ Top, the Allman Brothers, and Marshall Tucker.
Kinda like a metal version of Captain Beyond.
