Accolades for Split CD
Somewhere between prog sensibilities of Mammoth Volume and the inventiveness of Queens of the Stone Age, lies Finland's Devillac. A new and welcome addition to the RoboHypnoProg movement.
Devillac is pretty much spot on to the stuff that Josh Homme comes up with...post desert pop blues. The song writing is good and the songs are catchy and full of hooks. Transonic Science is super psychedelic and production is a key issue. It gets quiet and loud, the sort of dynamics that the Pixies use. Another really good band that can write some catchy pop/hard rock hits. Influences like the Stooges come to mind as well, but this kind of music sometimes it's hard to hear the real influences.
Transonic Science are great. Reminds me a little of newer anthrax mixed with kyuss. The vocals are good especially when he's screaming.
