Accolades for Half Speed Ahead
If you thought Need Another Seven Astronauts was a monster...meet it's meaner, heavier, angrier older brother. This disc compiles their 2 earlier EPs onto 1 10-ton slab of rawk. Zone out or scream along...you're set either way. Just ungodly heavy. What I love most about this band is they sound like no one else. They are head and shoulders above the rest of their genre...what ever the fuck that genre may be called.
There is just something about the way Rebreather play their abrasive, yet melody ridden sludgecore that makes them untouchable by most of their peers. The labyrinth like riffs and grooves, the simple yet crushing beats and Barley's schizophrenic vocal delivery that ranges from nerve shredding screams to melodic, yet drug addled clean vocals. It all adds up to a sound that only Rebreather is capable of. If you haven't heard Rebreather yet, this album serves as the perfect introduction as it offers up a collection of their absolute best material. Hell, even if you have the EPs you should buy this one and support a great band. Rebreather are sludgecore perfection, but they have so many elements to their sound than just sludge. So this is one for all metal and heavy rock fans to check out as well. This record is as painful as getting a railroad spike driven into the brain. Intense and highly recommended!
