Rob: How did Cable start? who were the pioneering members of the outfit?
Vic: Cable started in early 1994 by myself and Randy Larsen (Bass/Vocals). We were doing a band in 1993 called Structure that were breaking up so we ditched the other dudes and started something new, Cable.
Rob: Where exactly are you guys located? and what is the scene like out there as far as stonerriffic bands?
Vic: Were from the greater Hartford Connecticut area. There is no scene here at all (that Im aware of), we cant even get gigs here, maybe once or twice a year...People are REALLY big into Emo & Straight Edge Hardcore in CT. The last show we did in Hartfor was in February, and I think 10 people paid.
Rob: How often do you guys rehearse? and how is the songwriting process done?
Vic: It really depends on what were up to, if we plan on recording or doing a string of gigs we may practice 3 times a week, if were on a "hiatus" were practing once every...never really. Writing and arranging songs has always been fairly easy for us, someone starts playing something and we jump in one-by-one and jam on it for an hour, then slice and dice it...BAM !! New song.
Rob: You guys are getting ready to release your 4th CD- how has the sound changed/developed over the years and what do you see in the future for Cable?
Vic: Our "sound" has just been a natural progression. We`ve been writing & playing music with various lineups for a decade. Its never planned, it just seems to keep moving..Its hard to explain in words I guess. I try not to look to far into the future because it tends to put unnessasary pressure on us all. Whatever happens, happens. The music is the only thing that matters.
Rob: What is up with upcoming tours? Plans?
Vic: Right now, were taking a break. We did some gigs earlier this year and recorded our 5th album and we all have other crazy shit going on, so this summer is pretty much going to be taking care of personal shit and getting the new album out. Its been delayed beacuse of some technical diffaculties, but it`ll surface soon.
Rob: Your sound seemed to shift dramatically between northern failure and Skyhorse Jams...explain.
Vic: Well, ya know Northern Failures was a very important album for us, it was the first recording in 2 years we all went off and did our own thing for a while, played in project bands, travelled, got into trouble(hahaha) and reunited for writing Northern Failures in early 2000 and really concentrated on putting out a massive record and to spit in the face of critics. I guess we had something to prove, you could say. Skyhorse Jams was more like...Fuck it ! Lets make an album of the tunes we are are always jamming at bandpractice but never play out...so we did, it`ll easily go down as the most relaxed and fun studio experience weve ever had. We recorded, mixed, and mastered that record in 12 hours. Lots of alcohol too.
Rob: What are some of the other bands out there that you guys all collectively like? or would like to tour with/gig with?
Vic: Well, thats a tough one. We all like a WIDE variety of music, but collectively I think we`re all into the classics: Zeppelin,Sabbath..etc We`ve played with bands like Eyehategod,Today Is The Day, High On Fire etc...and those are always fun because we get to play a great gig and then get totally blasted afterwards, sit in the van drink,smoke,laugh...We recently played with Baltimore`s All Is Suffering down in Philly and that was a total all-out drunk fest...good god...fun times man.
Rob: How is the new Attilla booking going for you? And what made you want to start a booking agency?
Vic: Yeah, I started Attila Booking a few months ago because I love being involved with the booking process. I was a part owner of a club here in CT in the 90`s and Ive booked all the Cable tours throughout the years so I developed a liking for it. I think there really are some great bands out there that need someone to take care of that shit so they can concentrate on writing material and taking care of all the other shit a band needs to take care of. Im really happy doing it and there is a strange satisfation in it. I guess beacuse I cant get out on the road as much as Id like anymare, I can do it through the bands I book.
Rob: How has the internet if at all changed your life with music?
Vic: Man, I`ll tell you, Im still pretty new to the internet, email shit. I remember when I booked the first Cable tour it was all done through US Mail & telephone. It took me 5 months to book a one month tour. Its so fucken easy now..email some dude and get a reply in a few minutes..really tweakes me out..still! The thing I love is being able to listen to free music, thats such a trip. I remember taking chances on records now you can hear a song or two and decide on whether its worth buying or not. really cool..
Rob: Anything you would like to say to the community members of StonerRock.com?
Vic: I would like to say that in all my years of being involved in music, I have never seen such a supportive group of people. Most music-type sites seem to be dedicated to smashing peoples opinions and ragging on bands & records..here it like, Hey cool..at least your doing something you like. I think its great. Iev meet some really cool-ass people on this site. All hail Rob,Dan and the crew.
Rob: if you weren`t a rocker, what would you most like to be?
Vic: A forest ranger or professional fisherman.
Rob: what was your worst gig and why? What was your best gig and why?
Vic: Worst gig: Appleton,WI in 1996, we played for 1 kid..I swear to god, 1.
Best gig: CBGB in Nyc, 2000..because its humbling being on the stage that gave Blondie,The Ramones & Talking Heads their start..Best sound sysetem ever too!

Vic: Movies: Barfly, The Stoned Age, Easy Rider
Books: Post Office, Tales Of Ordinary Maddness & Hot Water Music by Charles Bukowski

Rob: how often do you surf the net and what do you mostly do while online?
Vic: Lately Im on a lot. Maybe a few hours a day. I go to Stonerrock.com, where else?
Rob: what is your favorite city and venue to play, and why?
Vic: In all honesty, I love to play Providence,RI @ The Met Cafe...its our home away from home.
Rob: what is the most rock `n` roll thing you`ve ever done?
Vic: Hmmm, one time at a Halloween show in Newport,RI I got REAL drunk and passed out under the merch table and all I remember is someone waking me up and pushing me towards the stage and I just sat behind my drums, wondering what the fuck are these things?? and proceeded to play one of the best gigs ever..peopel went nuts, then we throw 5 LB pumpkins at them..classic!
Rob: What`s the most rock `n` roll thing you`ve seen someone else do?
Vic: The most "rock and roll" thing Ive ever witnessed was when I stood 3 ft from Lemmy of Motorhead. His presence alone was amazing..he IS rock and roll!
Rob: what`s your worst "bad trip" story?
Vic: Ah man, once I got super high off some Georgia Blue, drank a sixer off tall cans and split a 1/2 of shrooms with my old roomate..my god! I was sweating, grinding my teeth, crying and layed curled up in my bed listening to the first Zeppelin album over & over...All of a sudden thsi chick walks into my room and she`s looking at me and I freaked out BAD..I thought she was going to hurt me or something. Really bizzare night. . Im actually engaged to her right now, which is even more bizzare.
Rob: What`s the most painful thing you have ever witnessed at a rock show?
Vic: Some opening bands.
Rob: how old were you when you first realize you wanted to rock?
Vic: I got into music at a really young age, I started (my folks actually) buying records when I was like 5 or 6 years old. My faviorites were The Doors,ACDC & Twisted Sister.
Rob: what`s the most embarrassing job you ever had?
Vic: A Janitor. And a store clerk.
Rob: what`s your favourite ice cream flavor?
Vic: Coffee
Rob: if you could date any rock star dead or alive in the world, who would it be? Movie star?
Vic: Rock Star: Debbie harry - Movie Star: Dennis Hopper
Rob: what would be the ultimate dream gig of all time line-up be, with your band opening? Limit to three bands please (including your own...) and where?
Vic: KISS & CABLE Cobo Hall, Detroit 1977 !!!
