Welcome to my 'favorite bands'-pages. The links on these pages will lead you to the official websites of many of those bands. Some of them haven't got an official site yet, so in that case I put in a link to their recordcompany. On those sites you will probably find more information about the band. Many bands without official sites do have a lot of tribute pages on the Web who are build and maintained by fans. Those links are in the linkorama section. There are thousands of fanpages on the Web so I had to decide to put only a few of them in my linkorama. The ones I've put in are those I liked the most myself, of course I haven't visited all fanpages yet so if you own a fanpage on one of the following bands or if you noticed one somewhere on the web that you liked and isn't on my pages, please send me a note with the u.r.l. and I will check it out. You will notice that most bands in here are situated in the Stoner - Acid - Desert Rock genre or whatever people call it. That's because those are the bands I appreciate the most myself. Of course there are lots of other cool bands around in other scenes whom i like a lot ( for example Tool, Pist*On, Paradise Lost, ... to name just a few of them) but there's already so much information on those bands on the Net that I've decided to concentrate just on the StonerRock genre. StonerRock huh, is it all about drugs ? Nope, I don't think so. It's a bunch of really cool bands who all have one thing in common, they all have their roots in the seventies and their not ashamed to admit that. They worship bands like Hawkwind, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and of course the almighty Black Sabbath. I guess the media started to call them StonerRockers because there are a lot of psychedelic influences in their music and sure, without any doubt some of them are consummating rather illagal goodies to produce those spaced out tunes, so what ! Listen to them and you will find out that you don't need any kind of drugs to appreciate the music. On the contrary, the tunes are gonna bring you to a natural high without the need for chemicals. I'm the first one though to admit that there's nothing better than smokin' a big fat joint with some friends and listening to some sludgerock together. Are you offended by that ? Not my problem buddy, buzz off, join the straight edge community and get bored for the rest of your life. These are the nineties, freedom of speech and opinion my friend .... Thanks for visiting my pages and have fun !!
One of the few
bands who were already legandary even before the first album came out, THE
ATOMIC BITCHWAX. Based in New Jersey USA, the Bitchwax is a band formed by members and
ex-members of some of the grooviest stoner space bands around such as Monster Magnet, Godspeed
and Solaced. New Jersey is known for its great and very talented rockscene so it was only a
matter of time before some of the forerunners of that scene started their own so called supergroup.
The Atomic Bitchwax started out back in 1996 after the demise of the band Slap Rocket. Ex slap Rocket
drummer Keith Ackerman joined NJ based ultra heavy stonercrew
Solaced but at the same time he started the Atomic Bitchwax together with vocalist / bassplayer
Chris Koznik (ex-Godspeed ex-Slap Rocket) and guitarist
Ed Mundell who's of course also known as Monster Magnet's lead guitarist.
After the recording of the first stunning demotape in '96 StonerRock fans from all over the world
were waiting impatiently for the debut album. Due to the fact that guitarist Ed Mundell is extremely
busy with the highly productive and constantly touring Monster Magnet it lasted untill june '99
before the debut came out on Tee-Pee / Mia Records. It
was worth the long wait, that's for sure !! The album turned out to be one of the very best
ever released in its kind and is filled with 11 high quality and very improvisational rocksongs.
The band doesn't have an official website but they don't even need one because out there somewhere
in Japan lives Naomi and she builded them one of the best designed
fansites on the entire Web, click here
to visit her site and learn all about one of the most essential rockbands on earth.

SOLARIZED from New Jersey USA is the brainchild of Jim Hogan and Reg Satana. Together they made up the rhythm section of the legandary band DAISYCUTTER that included Tim Cronin and guitarist Ed Mundell, both from Monster Magnet fame. After the Daisycutter breakup, Jim switched from bass to guitar and vocals, Reg stayed on as drummer and the duo began writing new material, Solarized was born ! They recruited bassist Lou Gorra and started recording songs for a full lenght album, featuring both Ed Mundell and Tim Cronin (Monster Magnet) as guest artists on selected tracks. Halfway through the recording process guitarist Pete Haushild joined the line-up. The band hit the studio again and recorded some more tracks to round out the album. In january 1999 the "Eight Ways To Sunday EP" was released by Meteor City Records, which is also available as a split-CD with fellow New Jersey stoners SOLACE. In april 1999 the full-length debut "Neanderthal Speedway" was released on Man's Ruin Records. Take a look at the great Official SOLARIZED Website, listen to some of the grooviest psychedelic stonertunes you will ever hear and go buy that album ! |
Is this the heaviest band on earth ? Well, brothers and sisters and StonerRockers everywhere, they sure come very close !! Norwegian spacecadets PAWNSHOP started out back in 1992. They spend the first five years touring around Norway and recording demotapes, creating a hell of a live reputation for themselves. In 1997 Pawnshop recorded their first album entitled "Broke" on Elephant Tanks. The album was only released in Norway but lucky for us there are still a few of them available and they can be ordered by mailing to [email protected]. Do it, while you still have the chance ! In january 1999 Pawnshop finished recording their new album "Aloha From Saturn", which will be released this fall by Italian label "Beard of Stars". Make sure to visit the great OFFICIAL PAWNSHOP WEBSITE, get yourself a good set of speakers and listen to the MP3 files. Beware with that volume control though, that stuff is damn HEAVY, and I don't want you people to blow your speakers to Venus. PAWNSHOP is B.K. on guitars, KJELL on vocals, GAUTE on bass and JOHN I. on drums. Keep an eye on Pawnshop in the near future, believe me, they are worth the attention and this is one of the best bands I've heard in a very long time. Do yourself a favour and go get that new album ! |

Chicks, B-movies, weed, boze and of course wheels and bikes. That's what life is all about for the four boys from Orange County (California USA). Ex Kyuss drummer Brant Bjork is in this band so you people should know what to expect, pure first class stonerrock.Their current album "King of the road" has been released by Mammoth Records. Make sure to visit their great looking and Official Website at www.fu-manchu.com. I saw them performing at least four times in the past and each time the Fu Manchu vehicle sounds like a hundred jet planes, ready for take off, leaving traces of burned rubber on the stage. Make sure to listen to their previous albums : "No one rides for free", "Daredevil" ,"In search of ..." and "The action is go" because it's really brilliant stuff ! Fu Manchu is Scott Hill : Vocals and Guitar, Brad Davis : Bass, Brant Bjork : Drums & Bob Balch: Lead Guitar and they are definitely one of the leading bands in the StonerRock genre. Fu Manchu will be on tour in Europe during oktober and november 1999. |
