Accolades for Snail the Wah
If Sunn0))) can claim the brown note, that special frequency that results in the listener losing bowel control, Electric Magma have discovered the green note, that special sound that jump starts any leftover drugs in your system. The band keeps things interesting by breaking the album into two different sections. Part one consists of studio recordings, and as on their last album, Karaoke Bitch Slap, Electric Magma live in the world of semi-sludgey stoner rock instrumentals. Think Karma to Burn without the hell bent southern destruction mindset. Its mid-tempo, head bobbing music, the kind that makes you want to find the bong. Part two is a collection of impromptu jams, recorded live without any studio fuckery. While the studio recordings have a bit more spit n polish to them, this part of the CD is where they really shine. Its cool to hear the band lock together as one and kick out these unrehearsed recordings. Its solid stoner rock from three talented musicians.
