Return of the Mammoth Volume! We believe
that the zombie-theme will really make a comeback next year, so we made an CD-r
EP on
that very subject. There is also some indierock noodling and a gospel-solo, but
let's not get technical.
"You have the secret of the zombies. Let me
have it!" What a great thing to say, and in the 40's no less. Anyhoo, we sampled
it, just like we did Day of the Dead and Night of the Living
Dead. The first song on the CD-r EP is called "Opera Del Diavolo" and it's a
scary glimps into Nicklas' warped nightmare-infested brain. "The pale horde is
back!" If you're a zombie freak it makes sense.
No. two is called "Les Better Terse" which is
half French, half American english. The title came to Daniel in a dream, so you
know it's good. And it's NOT a syntherziser playing the intro; it's a carton
tube and a tuning fork (He was very drunk at the time).
Track number three is "Demon on my Shoulder -
Super Runner IV". When you hear it, it will come to you. If you never heard a
song with two basses on it, you will have soon ('cause that's how we did this
song). "By the stones I save you." You figure it out. The Manic Mover is still
on the loose.
Fourthly and lastly is "We Squatted" which is
NOT a kinky golden shower-soundtrack. It's a rocksong. Celebrating all kinds of
things. Happy endings and such. I hate to say this but it's a great song. Wish
it was on a major-label-release but this is how it's gotto be.
So, this piece of plastic is for sale, and it's all
yours for 12$ or 10 euros, including everything. Mail us at [email protected] and
it's yours. If you're a member of the PayPal family you're in luck. By the way,
we also recorded our last ever communal jam, and it pretty much sums up our
career. It's called Live in the Studio 2003, and it is also for sale.
Ask you local dealer. And don't forget to register to vote.

- One down, three to go!
-
- The plan is as follows:
we're in the process of recording a four-track CDR that
we intend to sell independently in order to raise some
funds for our upcoming full-lenght album. If we
get our act together, the full-lenght will be released
on our own - soon to be started - record label.
- The
four-tracker is taking shape as we speak, and the working-title
for the first song in the bag is. . . well, we
haven't decided yet, but it's about ZOMBIES! Again.
- The
songs are all new originals, and as soon as the CDR
is completed (aprox. late-July) it will be made available
on the m.v. website.
- If
you can't wait to know how the recordings are coming
along, feel free to e-mail us at:

- Seeing how there are some
of you out there who actually wants to know, heres a little
info on Mammoth Volume, straight from the horses mouth.
The reason that we are not working on any music together
is that two of us live in Gothenburg, studying, while the
other half still lives in Lysekil. These two cities are
too far apart to allow for any continual writing/recording
to be done. We havent broken upwe just havent played
together for a really long time.
- As far as new material is
concerned, there isnt any. But we did record our last rehearsal
and have made a makeshift mix of that. The songlist runs
as follows: 1) Dervishsong, 2) Hellys Creek, 3) Horizon,
4) Matador, 5) Noara Dance, 6) Seagull, 7) Shindig, 8) Superrunner,
9) Vipera Berus.
- The
second item that might be of interest to you is the Tour
Diary we videotaped on our last European tour. Basically
us acting stupid + a bunch of songs performed live.
Only available on S-VCD. Seeing as how our previous record-label
do not intend to pass any money on to us you are welcome
to buy copies of this from us directly. Email or bmail
for details.
-
- Obviously no tours planned,
but if we get to record music together as Mammoth Volume
again youll be the first ones to know.

- Newsflash! Absolutely nothing has happened the last couple of
months, basically since we came home from our last european tour. Kalle has
moved to Gothenburg to study music and wont be coming back in a hurry, so it
looks like were back to being a studio-project once again. Circles. What else?
Nicklas is recording/producing a punkish rockband, and Daniel is recording
himself, but what will come of this no one knows. Jrgen is about to move to a
new apartment. He might be singing while vacuuming the new place, who
knows.
- We did get some
video-footage of us playing live in Germany at two different clubs, but its
very lo-fi and "handy-camy" so well see what we can squeeze out of that. Lots
of improvs. I know there hasnt been any
studio-report on The Early Years yet, but we might get around to that
too.
-
- As I said, nothing much important has happened,
but well get back to you as soon as it does.

- At long last we played in
our home town of Lysekil in preparation of our european
tour. A small club, sure. Not many people there to see us,
true. The add in the local paper misspelled our name and
got pretty much everything wrong ("See Mamouth Volume
for the first and last time!"), but hey - after we
shorted out the PA by dropping a beer all over it, a good
time was had by all. A definite highlight was when a 89
year old man with cotton sticking out of his ears told us
to turn it down "Just a weeensy bit". That was
after he slamdanced to "Shindig" with a steaming
hot voluptuous lady young enough to be his granddaughter.
That got Jrgen a little distracted, and thus some
less than accurate lyrics followed. The best part: were
doing it again tomorrow!

- Survey schmurmey...
-
- So, stonerrock.com
had a survey: best record released in 2001 and it seems
we won. Beating Clutch (thats a little awkward...),
Masters of Reality, Desert Sessions and other favs of ours.
Cant help but thinking that theres been some
terrible misunderstanding, as were happy just to
put out music without anybody noticing it except the very
most uncool people around (people like us - no offence).
But hey; I cant say we werent excited by the
fact that someone actually took the time to fill those forms
out and put our name on the top of it.
- Further
more, as were preparing for our european
tour, its good to know that there is some kind
of interest out there for what were doing. Man, its
gonna be alot of fun playing live abroad again. The last
show we did was in Germany with Dozer on this great big
stage with a big old rug covering the whole floor, and a
bunch of people singing along to songs off of the DemoCD
which weve only sold from our webpage up untill then
(coming soon as an official release The Early Years).
- Back
to the all important competition: I remember getting this
funny feeling in my stomach when we were signed to The Music
Cartel, like "wow, somebody out there really cares",
and when I found out about the stonerrock.com vote I got
the same kind of feeling. Its hard to explain how,
when youre in the middle of Nowheretown doing your
own thing in a void, and then find out that someone across
the Atlantic (or anywhere else) pays close attention to
what youre doing... its an abstract thought.
Sorry, dont mean to get mushy on you.
-
- Thanks, and see you on tour.
