Accolades for No More Forever
Sunnshine was formed in Richmond, VA, back in 1993 and the guys have roots in bands like Buzzov*en, Alabama Thunderpussy and 454. This release contains 16 tracks recorded between 1993 and 2001, before the band broke up. This is full force, hard kicking, powerful stoner rock. The old tracks are mindblowing energy boosts that should have given this band a well deserved seat in the pantheon of this genre. This is pure raw power coming out of the loudspeakers. Daaaaaark, tuned-down bass and guitars, a wild punch in the drums and singer Joe Deleon (ex-Dead Man Walking) has just the perfect aggressiveness in his voice to make this really, really cool. I've been headbanging nonstop since I got this album - just can't help it Wow! For people who dig Kyuss, Corrosion of Conformity, El Caco and The Atomic Bitchwax.
No More Forever is a posthumous collection of demo and studio tracks recorded from 1993 to 2002. Sunnshine plays punchy, driving hard rock thats anthemic without being contrived and catchy while remaining unconventional. With the wall of their namesake Sunn amps providing a healthy wall of distortion, they touch upon the Kyuss desert rock sound, but theres more drive and a more metal edge to Sunnshine. Its got groove and aggression, highlighted by Joe Deleon's expressive vocals. Which makes it all the more surprising that the band never really took off. Theres not a weak moment amongst the ten studio tracks and five demos. And Sunnshines music carries the same DNA as many of the bands out there now. In fact, it would be more apt to describe new releases as sounding more like Sunnshine than Kyuss. They may be long gone, but this band is deserving of your attention and reverence.
