Accolades for Blood, Sweat and Beer
Dirty Rig's sound is full on crunchy metal guitars with lots of pick squeals and a tight rhythm section that runs like a well maintained locomotive. There is some serious metal influences coming across in the music along with a tinge of southern dirge rock. Some of the songs have kind of a heavy crawl with a swing beat slightly reminding me musically of material off of Sleep's Holy Mountain...but for the most part it's pretty much hard rock/metal stuff reminding me of later COC or Metallica at times. Outside of being top-notch musicians I still find it hard to tag these guys with one sound or another because even though these guys certainly have their own set style, it jumps around the metal meter quite a bit. Get this one if you are into any of the bands above, or if you are a guitarist who likes to hear impressive chops.
Dirty Rig, as its name implies, isn't about the pretense or hipness, it's about the stripped down, raw side of Rock 'n Roll. Essentially, Dirty Rig plays rock the way it was meant to be played: loud, sweaty, and fun.
Heavy, loud and mean, Long Island's Dirty Rig is coming for you with a sound that mixes the eccentricity of Clutch with the muscularity of COC and Black Label Society.
