For over ten off and on years, Old Grandad have been refining and honing their craft, and the result is Hocus Corpus. Its a compilation of the band members varying backgrounds, so while its easily placed in the hard rock/metal camp, it doesnt stay there docilely. One song goes from a sing-songy AC/DC groove to a grinding stomp, the clean vocals replaced with a death metal growl. The title track brings to mind both classic Unsane and Sepultura. And Old Grandad arent above laying down a good ol thrash rager once in awhile either. I can see Old Grandad appealing to fans of Thin Lizzy as well as Deicide.
