The Haymaker EP reminds me of all that is stoner/hardcore under the sun. Eyehategod, Bongzilla, Man is the Bastard... Hauler is a bit of that and a bit more. It's progressive songs with pure hard and heavy doom blues riff after riff. If you like the idea of southern sludge meets hardcore doom, then definitely check into this one. A damn fine EP, but it's not for the timid.

Hauler has all of the twists and turns in their dynamics that I want to hear as a listener. The way they build their riffs into a frenzy and then drop it into a soul felt HEAVY groove. They have listened to lots of modern hardcore (Converge, Neurosis, Coelesce) and they know their doom metal too. But the way they combine these elements is thoughtful and deliberate, and their flavor is their own.

The band often starts with one huge riff. Songs revolve and twist around that... often weaving around a root note that never leaves the listener. The vocals are often buried deep within the doomy music. Fans of Mastodon, Harkonen, Clutch, Cavity and Isis - enjoy a new band built of wrath, rage and fury!
