Just fucking speechless. Cult of Luna promised a lot with their debut but never this much. This is possibly the densest thing I've ever heard. Of course names like Neurosis and Isis will be bandied about, but as much as I loved Oceanic this is just loads wider, deeper and darker.

This album is nothing short of amazing. The songwriting style is the same as Isis on their Mosquito Control and Celestial era, but sounding even more confident with better production. HUGE production! A more "thick" and less "melodic" Oceanic would be a fair comparison. Folks getting into Old Man Gloom, Oxbow and Pelican this is highly recommended.

The Isis/Neurosis/Breach comparisons were pretty spot on. Atmospherically The Beyond could be compared to Breach's Kollapse but it's much less 'experiemental' and infinitely heavier and slower.
