Beaten Back to Pure have received comparisons to EyeHateGod in the past, but on The Burning South, theyre more in line with bands like Alabama Thunderpussy. Theyve got the melodic-yet-heavy riffs, and a sound thats steeped in Southern rock, but their more metal aspects elevate them from being another Skynryd-on-Meth clone. Whether you like rock, sludge, or straightforward metal, youd probably dig the hell out of The Burning South. It's another fine collection of the bands unique swamp-sludge-metal dirges and rockers.

You won't hear 8 songs all sounding the same on a BBTP album. They mix up vocal styles and draw from many different influences musically. They can stomp your ass with the most head-bangingest of riffs or get all moody and sludgy on you.

Anyone that digs the sludgey, dirty southern rock 'n' roll would be wise to acquire this.
