Unknown Controller's "Unearthed Gems" series has bands playing cover versions of their more obscure influences. Known well for record collections that collectively rival the Library of Congress, Drunk Horse deliver two incredibly rare tunes, fully living up to the name of the series.

After a series of legal problems continues to delay the first installment in the "Unearthed Gems" collection, this will be the first of these records to see the light of day. Sri Lanka's Zilla are covered on side A's amazing metal anthem "Weed Elf" (replete with cello solo!), while a old school and largely unknown surf rocker from Drunk Horse's home town of Pismo Beach, Andy Sherman (with his backing band the Sherms when this song was written), is covered on side B's "Pismo Beach".
