sHEAVY was formed in 1993 in St. John's, Newfoundland Canada. At first the band was called Green Machine and they performed and recorded under that name for almost a year. Short after the release of the first E.P. the band changed the name into sHeavy in order to avoid any conflict with the already established American band Green Machine. The first 7" release on Canadian label Mag Wheel Records included the Black Sabbath cover "Tommorow's Dream" and that's exactly what marked the bands style : Sabbath meets Kyuss meets the 1970's. Almost immediately sHeavy reached a lot of fan interest, not only in North America but in Europe as well. In 1995 the band completed it's first full lenght CD entitled "Blue Sky Mind", an independant production. The album wasn't officially released until 1996. The album was heavily blues influenced but also inspired by bands as Sabbath, Kyuss and Monster Magnet. After releasing the split album "Born To Late" with Japanese doomheads Church Of Misery the band was signed by the legendary British indie doom label Rise Above Records owned by Lee Dorrian of Cathedral fame. In 1998 sHeavy's full lenght CD "The Electric Sleep" was released on Rise Above. First thing you wil notice listening to the band is the characteristic voice of singer Steve Hennessey who almost sounds exactly like Ozzy Osbourne himself. That doesn't mean that sHeavy is just a Sabbath copy, check out the Official sHEAVY website and listen to the audiosamples. The site is build and maintained by Ren Squires, the drummer and contains tons of information on these Canadian stoners. Make sure to check out Ren's DALLAS TAR MAILORDER at the same url for lots of independant and hard to find releases by all the grooviest StonerRock bands on planet earth and beyond ! sHeavy's new album "Celestial Hifi" will be released in Europe on march 27th 2000 and soon after in North America and Japan. |

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, originally started way back in 1982 as a harcore band, doesn't need any introduction amongst the fans of the groovy kind of metal. Even then, during those hardcore days it was perfectly clear that C.O.C. was hurtling towards a timeless rock sound and from the very first recordings "Eye for an Eye", "Animosity" and "Technocrazy" they have continued to improve themselves constantly. In 1990 guitarist Pepper Keenan joined the band and C.O.C. released the stunning "Blind" album who was still slightly hardcore influenced but showed already a completely different side of C.O.C. In 1994 they recorded "Deliverance" with Pepper Keenan not only on guitars but also on vocals and it seemed as Corrosion of Conformity finally found the lineup and the sound that gave them the most satisfaction, successfully closing the gap between punk, thrash and metal. The band recorded their most recent album "Wiseblood" in the same line-up as the previous one "Deliverance" and this was the first time this ever happend so that's the proof that Corrosion of Conformity has finally nailed the "timelessness" they've been searching for. Wiseblood is a raw, in your face record. It's an album that could bring C.O.C. to the forefront in rock and one that should become a standard by which future rock albums will be measured. Appreciated by metal-heads, alternative rock fans, stonerrockers and many others Corrosion of Conformity is surely a band to watch out for. Visit the Official C.O.C. Website at Sony Music for more information. C.O.C. is : Pepper Keenan: Vocals & Guitar, Woody Weatherman: Guitar, Mike Dean: Bass & Reed Mullin: Drums. |

CELESTIAL SEASON from the Netherlands were formed in the beginning of 1992 but the band played atmospheric Death/Doom Metal for many years. They made two albums who were pretty succesfull amongst the Metalheads in Europe. Somewhere in 1995 the band broke up with their vocalist and changed the musical direction. Shortly after, they released a mini-album called 'Sonic Orb' which was basically to show the fans their change of sound. The new sound shows great influences from the seventies and is best compared to the so called Dessert Rock Scene, with bands such as Kyuss, Fu Manchu etc. In march 1997 they released the overwhelming "Orange" album. The new sound is something you'll surely won't forget. The band searched for a drummer for a long time and each time they were touring they borrowed 'Eef', the female drummer for fellow Dutch Stoners 'Beaver'. In the beginning of 1998 they finally found a suitable drummer and in September they've recorded the brilliant new album called "Chrome" which has been released in january '99. Check out the really great looking and highly updated Official CELESTIAL SEASON Website for more information on the band. Celestial Season's current line-up is : Cyril Crutz: Vocals, Pim van Zanen: Guitars, Olly Smit: Guitars, Jaques de Haard: Bass & Rob Snijders: Drums. |

KARMA TO BURN from West Virginia USA released their self entitled
debutalbum on Roadrunner records in 1997. Short after the release they kicked out the leadsinger
J. Jarosz and decided to go on as the instrumental three piece they were before the deal with
Roadrunner. It was Roadrunner who forced them to get a singer in the first place, they wouldn't
release the album without vocals. After the release Karma To Burn started touring without the singer
so they were dropped by Roadrunner. I saw them twice during that tour and i swear the instrumental
versions of the songs are even more impressive than the ones with vocals on the debutalbum. Since
their stunning appearance on the legendary Dynamo Open Air Festival in Holland in 1997, everything
was rather quiet around this awesome band. All that time they were touring the States as an instrumental band
though and suddenly in may '99 the new album Wild Wonderful Purgatory came out
(which strangly enough is distributed in Europe by Roadrunner). In the meanwhile this first class stoner rock band keeps
on burning rubber under the motto INSTRUMENTAL FOREVER.
Check out the Page of the playboy
pallbearers for more information. It's not an official KARMA TO BURN site but as far as I know
it's the only one out there. Karma To Burn is Will : Guitars,
Richie : Bass & Bob : Drums.
