Ken: Hello
Rob: Hi. is this Ken?
Ken: It is...
Rob: Hi, this is Rob from StonerRock.com...
Ken: Hey, How are you doing Rob?
Rob: How`s it going?
Ken: Not bad...how`s it going...
Rob: ...good, um...care if I ask you a few questions?
Ken: No, go right ahead...
it seemed so formal they way I came across that we both kind of agreed on some light laughter...
Rob: Lets, see...um. Your new drummer...
Ken: His name is Ryan...
Rob: Oh Tony is the guy that recorded the record with you guys and...
Ken: He played a couple of shows...
Rob: You guys don`t play anywhere but Toronto so I don`t know who is in the band! hehehe...
Ken: Well, sooner or later we will...
Rob: right on, so you got this guy Ryan in the band? How long has he been in the band now?
Ken: It`s been a few months now...
Rob: Do you have any plans on touring?
Ken: Yeah well that`s the whole thing. We haven`t been out there because we haven`t had any support to get us out there...we toured Europe with Electric Wizard but other than that we haven`t you know got anybody to help us out in that direction...We are hoping now with Eric and the Cartel...that is what we are hoping on...
Rob: Any bands that you have in mind on touring with?
Ken: Well we know the Wizard guys and that...and they came over once...We were hoping that they would come back next year and that we could trip across with them for a while.
Rob: I have been listening to the new album lately...I can imagine that you guys are pretty loud...
Ken: Well, it`s better than that live...it`s never exactly what I`m hearing, but it`s close...
Rob: You guys played those shows lately, I`ve been reading that you played at the Bovine Sex Club in Toronto...I have been hearing around that it was the best show a lot of people have seen of you guys.
Ken: That was a fun night...it was Ryans first show so it was a different thing...yeah people dug it...it was a good time...
Rob: ...you guys feel like it`s a solid line up? Is Ryan into it?
Ken: Oh yeah...he`s in...I`ve been waiting for this guy for 10 years...yeah...you know this town...there is no heavy bands in this town needless to say...and drummers, they`re even less of them than the bands, so it`s...it was tough...we`ve had some good guys, but they weren`t just mentally sound, it was unbelievable...then we had guys that were mentally sound that didn`t know how to play that well...so the drummer can;t be the worst guy...Ryan was a fan before he joined so he`s been digging us for 6...7 years...he`s in now, he`s a lifer...Frank and I are overjoyed...it`s been a long time...
Rob: You and Frank have been playing together since the beginning...
Ken: about 10 years now...I started it as just Otis, and there was a band that showed up out of nowhere from Boston, we had to change the name...our label at the time was crying, oh you gotta change the name...It was Otis for a few years, I`m not just going to change it...Screw it, Sons of, on there really...our original drummer isn`t with us needless to say, and Frank joined soon after the band was formed...like after our Independent CD "Paid to Suffer" he joined then, so he`s been around since oh...`93...a long time...Franks been a lifer ever since...it`s tough up here...it`s tough...but we keep going...
Rob: It`s what you gotta do...
Ken: yeah, it`s what we love to do, and it`s no trend...it`s just the way we love to play. Like it or not...
Rob: Well, I like it...
Ken: Cool...
Rob: You are definitely making an impact because people are just dying to hear you around here...
Ken: I get emails all the time from down in the States, and I say...you know- hold on! Soon! it will happen, we got to Europe out of nowhere...
Rob: Where about did you go?
Ken: We started in England, over to Holland, Germany and Belgium...
Rob: what did you think of that? You ever been?
Ken: No, I was having a good time, and I found that the people there are into it, and their not pretending, you know these guys...I was hearing story about how they took 6 trains and 800 miles, you know...and I am going shit! We play in our hometown and people can`t cross the street to see us...and I am hearing these guys and I am almost crying going here, shit- have this shirt...people are into it and that is all that matters...constantly getting storys of people with original Spacejumbofudge albums going can you sign it going shit if you people are into it yeah that`s cool...that`s all you want you know?
Rob: Any records coming out on The Music Cartel? Multi record deal, or...
Ken: Yeah I think we got a couple, couple of options, couple different options...
