Accolades for One Bird Two Stones
Dixie Witch was born in the fall of 1999 in a tiny practice room in Denton, Texas. The band was formed as an outlet for the members to express their love of loud, pure, heavy rock. The trios lineup has remained unchanged since its inception three years ago. The band quickly forged its own sound, that fully capitalizes on their collective strengths: pummeling rhythms, dynamic musicianship, and vocals bellowed forth with conviction and purpose. The directness and down-home flavor of southern rock has also been a huge influence on the band's music, as well as its members. There is no pretentiousness or gimmickry to this band: it is all about the freedom to do your own thing. It seems the perfect antidote for the lackluster, manufactured "rock" that now permeates the airwaves.
Dixie Witch cultivate a sound that pays homage to the heavy and fuzzed forefathers that have come before them. There is enough Blue Cheer, Mountain, and Grand Funk mixed with Southern Rock aesthetic to satisfy the jones of any 70s head and enough back-to-the-future retro fuzz to take Dixie Witch headlong into the new millennium
