You gotta hand it to Jadd and Aaron of MeteorCity. Not only did they kick a whole genre off with the release of the seminal "Welcome to MeteorCity" compilation, but they are running one hell of a label. They know how to pick 'em...they take their own sweet time and when something knocks 'em off their feet, they release it. And if it doesn't they don't. Which would explain the amazing quality control associated with MeteorCity releases....ain't a bad one in the bunch. I can only hope someone kisses my ass like this some day...

Blind Dog's "The Last Adventures of Captain Dog" is flat out excellent. I haven't heard so much energy radiate through the Bose since Throttlerod's Eastbound and Down. These guys are from Sweden, and they are on fire.

This release is heavy, heavy groove at it's best and most compelling. They flat out tear the timbers off with hyperactive earth-shakers like "Thundergroove" and "10,000 reasons, juxtapose the tender and tempest with songs like "Blend" (Best doom riff by a non-doom band....maybe just the best doom riff!), harmonica-flavahed, folk-thunder with "Beyond My Reach", bee-you-tee-full acoustic folk-flavah with "When I'm Finally Gone", back to some doom-riffage with "Feels Like My Mind...", gentle trip-rock before launching into a HEAVY groove manifesto with "Wish I Knew What Side I'm On", the tripped-out gentle sonic waves and soothing vocals in the epic "Damned If I Should Care" before WHAM!! The heaviest guitar call- and-answer since "Diary of a Madman" (please dig the hand-claps toward the end) and we are only a little more than half way through the album....

If you can picture Half-Man in combo with Roachpowder with pre-fuck-up Monster Magnet tendencies, then you kind of get the picture. Regardless of your tastes in heavy music, this thing has something for everything. I mean it's a GREAT album...did I mention the production? Friggin' flawless, vocals strong and out-of-the-pocket, the guitar sonics are mean, crunchy and loud, drums n' bass crystal clear without being overpowering and obnoxious.... all in all tighter than a bull's ass during fly season...

A must have.
