Accolades for Stay Smoke Stay Stone
This is actually a reissue of one of their early demos, remixed and pressed onto a sweet piece of vinyl. The vinyl is a heavy-weight green/black swirl and the sleeve is a clear hard plastic with the art (naked chick, woo-hoo!) silk-screened onto it. Very cool and worth the price of admission.
The songs are what I've come to expect from this band: heavy, slow, hateful sludge. The arrangements are a little less complex than the more recent recordings, as you can tell Dot(.) were still looking to establish a sound rather than write songs at this early stage, but what a sound. The dual vocalists are in full effect here, giving them a bit of separation from the other sludge bands. The riffs pound you into the ground with sheer heaviosity. This is the fourth single of theirs I've picked up and I've yet to be disappointed.
