Accolades for Live
What makes this a great live album? First, the mix is impeccable. Live is the perfect setting for On Trials 60s influenced psychedelic rock. The band sounds personal and intimate. All the songs are good, the surest sign of a solid band excelling live. On this disc theyre energetic and captivating. As such, Live is recommended, as is their back catalogue.
These guys sound great live. Always makes me respect a band more when you know they can cut it live too.
Live offers more than enough proof of their capabilities as songwriters and musicians. It functions as one extended journey through On Trial's psychedelic universe picking songs from their last three studio albums, adding the obligatory jam and also a high-energy cover of Mose Allison's "Parchment Farm" . There are just a few cuts you could file under the really "far-out psych", but their combination of jam-based rock and garage power is equally mesmerizing.
