Accolades for Room 65
Southern Gun Culture is two guys, a girl and a kick ass heavy duty southern stoner rock band from Austin, TX. Combining heavy tube guitar, fat bass lines, driving beats and a three-pronged vocal attack, this relatively new band is striving to put Texas back on the rock n roll map. Their sound is innovative and retro, calling to mind early Black Sabbath, Clutch and southern rock with almost Beatles-like vocal harmonies. With a raw sound and an explosive stage presence, SGC is taking rock back to its roots and providing a fresh alternative to the current trends.
It's pure southern blues rock- melodically similar to Fireball Ministry or Dixie Witch in ways. Simple straight ahead fist throwing southern rock and roll, but more tuned down and heavy. There are a few hidden punches thrown though, so it's not really just your typical straight up variety. My favorite song "Free" for instance has a cool upbeat tempo changes and angular rhythms...great guitar lead too- super bluesy wah-wah soul solo.
