Kaptain Sun's debut album is a metal energy charged ride of doom drenched beer drinking riffs. Most of the songs on Rainbowride remind me of the same tempo approaches and stomp style that Orange Goblin can deliver. Thick fuzzed out guitars and deep metal vocals that sound like something out of a black metal band.

If you like Boulder you might dig this record, too. The guitars aren't chop wise as impressive, but it just has that same kind of edge of the seat energy. People that dig Grand Magus might be into this CD as well. You might call this groove metal actually.

These guys have had their fair share of Sabbath listening, but make no mistake Kaptain Sun is indeed metal as well. Definitely worth a spin at a stoner kegger get together. Even though it's doom metal, it's damn fine bar rock - energetic, good and just plain hard.
