Those of you who enjoyed the first two Firebird albums will embrace No. 3 with equal fervor as the new album pursues the same frontier. Although the bands lineup regularly changes, the song remains the same. Bills love for bands like Free, Grand Funk and Led Zeppelin is still apparent and he also shares congruence to Lenny Kravitz. Some remonstrate Kravitzs style is contrived, but given a listen you can tell Steers compositions are deeply heartfelt and this is as close as you can get to the real deal. There are jazz voicings on tracks like Tumbling Down and End Of The Day, harmonica on Hard Hearted and Bill pours on slide guitar and keyboards making this a killer addition to the Firebird discography. If your wings hover in retro, but your soul sours towards the unfolded No. 3 will guide you into Arcadia.

Damn this album is good, the new rhythm section gives it a greasier more Humble Pie-like feel and there are more keyboards too. Had this album been made in 1973, some of the songs on it would be in heavy rotation on your local classic rock station with "Stoned Believer" probably being a hit the size of "Smoke on The Water"
