HALF MAN vs. MOTHERCAKE : Vol. 1 split 7"
1999
Both bands come from Sweden, so it's obvious that they play stoner rock. To
our luck Half Man are a lot better than 90% off the Swedish bands playing
poor Kyuss riffs and being just copycats, so they can be put near Mammoth
Volume.
This time they have two tracks on the vinyl. 'Red Herring' has already appeared
on the Underdogma compilation with a different version. On the 7" we can listen
to a more psychedelic, spaced out rock song and I personally liked it better
than the version on "Judge not". 'Acid Park' is one more rocker (an instrumental)
with great guitar playing.
Mothercake's songs aren't that great, they couldn't catch my attention, maybe
next time.
All in all, the vinyl is worth purchasing for the songs of Half Man, but hurry
up, as the vinyl might be sold out in the near future.
