Accolades for Self Titled
After ten years, the mighty FLOOR unleash their first full album! FLOOR have reinvented their sound. Present is their trademark wall of amps and crushingly heavy music; massive in impact. The guitars drone hauntingly, the drums bash and break into half-time grooves. Couple this with newfound soaring, anthemic vocals...down tuning as a science!
This is a great record - a huge step forward in terms of bringing a new flavour to the whole sludge sound. One of the best produced heavy albums ever - at loud volumes the drums and guitars create a massive wall of sound. Definitely has crossover appeal as well.
The disc will certainly have your speakers quaking under the strain. It pounds continually although I'm left will a surreal mellow vibe after each listen. The vocals have this airy echo that sometimes reminds me of early Burton C. Bell (fear factory) when he would periodically sing with clean vocals. This is one of those cds that the uninitiated can also enjoy. This is near the top of my 2002 best records list.
