Accolades for Any Noise is Intended
Zone Six are an almost instrumental four piece. There are vocals, but theyre sparse and used more as an effect. This is slowly unwinding music, the kind that moves at its own lackadaisical pace. Id say the primary influence is Pink Floyd, with the more ethereal jams of, say, Delicious and with the slick, almost metallic sounding production of Monkey3. The album is essentially one long jam. As such, theres plenty of room for noodling and solos (courtesy of guitar, synths, and Hammond organ, among others), giving the album a densely layered feel. Ive spun this at least a half dozen times, and Ive heard new things with each repeated listen.
They play great expansive trippy music, with a bunch of suprises and oddball stuff thrown in there as Arz mentions, generally a long progressing-in-tempo bass/drum groove with echos, feedback and weird noises (boing boing boing) on the top. Think Pharoah Overlord with less repetition and more noise.
