Accolades for Worm Dirges (Red)
"Asphalt" starts out as a slow, heavy, grooving dirge, getting your head nodding in slow motion in no time. The drummer makes good use of all the extra space in this song, throwing in lots of great fills, keeping things active. Side B features an even slower, nastier song in the form of "Vortex". This song sounds like Grief on tranquilizers, just plodding along with crushing riffs and a more ambient feel compared to the groove of "Asphalt".
Finland's misanthropic masters are back! Fleshpress is depressed, nihilistic sludge with a touch of grim psychedelics. For fans of Grief, Eyehategod, Buzzoven and Dot[.].
