Accolades for Beef With Cheese
Australia's Legends of Motorsport are a group of disgruntled musicians unleashing a sound that is as twisted as Charles Manson...their sound reminds me mostly of 60's garage stuff...Stooges, MC5 but with a newer fuzzed out take on it more along the lines of Mudhoney...Fuzzed out and blues drenched. Their bio that came with this 5 song EP states that the Legends of Motorsport are 'utterly full of shit'. I agree with that somewhat, but in a good way. These guys know how to play quite well but they take a tongue in cheek approach for sure. Get it if you like MC5, Stooges, The Defectors, John Spencer Blues Explosion or Mudhoney.
Their sound can be aptly described as a blend of 1970 Detroit, Jon Spenser, ? and The Mysterians, and Zen Guerilla. In other words: hard 70s garage with an insane sense of humor. Reportedly, these guys dont have a bass, but prefer to play a downtuned guitar through a bass amp on maximum fuzz. The vocals, by one Whispering Ken, sound like a mix of Mudhoneys Mark Arm and Scooby Doo. The Legends sound is augmented by an organ that sounds fresh from a studio session with The Zombies or ? and The Mysterians, but recorded on 11 with maximum distortion. By contrast, the drums are clear and natural sounding.
