HALF
MAN / MOTHERCAKE Vol.1
(1999 / Border Music HM&M001)
9/10
Heavy groove
swamp blues. A split 7" from two Swedish stoner blues bands.
It contains Half Man's Red Herring, a heavyweight tune not on their album The
Complete Field Guide To Cynics, and a hard psychedelic instrumental Acid Park
- though they both differ from the tunes on the album, they are still way above
your average stoner rock.
In the meantime, Mothercake attacks our ears with the earth-shattering Fists
Of Fury and Baglady - I believe this is their first release ever, but still
very impressive.
We don't see many copies of this record in Japanese shops, but as this is a
limited issue of 400, get yours as soon as possible.
Red Herring also appeared on the Underdogma compilation Judge Not...
The big fat slab of this 7" vinyl reminds you of a SP from the yesteryears.
