Accolades for Primula Pestis
Inspired by their own genius and morose monster acts such as Winter, Godflesh, Celtic Frost, Dream Death, Saint Vitus, Pentagram and Melvins, Thee Plague of Gentlemen has forged a unique sound and redefined the term heavy in a musical context. Encapsulated in a production as fat as all adjectives for describing something fat put together Primula Pestis will work its way through your immune system with the sublimity of an elephant walking through a porcelain store!
Its got the subsonic crunch of traditional doom and drone (Goatnsnake and Sunn0)))), yet with the new wave of classic metal (High on Fire, Lair of the Minotaur, Secret Order of Tusk, etc) style. Songs can plod at the speed of decay and then bust out in a classic Venom gallop. Vocally its primarily an epic growl. With the thick production, its easy to start to feel claustrophobic around the halfway mark. The end result is something thats not quite doom, not quite metal, but all around heavy.
Heavy shit that's always sounded like Celtic Frost meets Goatsnake meets Winter to me. Super thick guitar tones, lots of chug in the riffs and a nasty singer. What more can you ask for?
