I was automatically thinking along the lines of Spirit Caravan when I first heard this CD- and knowing damn well that Victor Griffin had some projects going with Wino, I had no idea that there was a pocket for this doom drenched blues style between some friends...it's not Spirit Caravan, but it's part of the family much like the Alligator and Crocodille. If you are into Spirit Caravan, Pentagram, The Obsessed- and you haven't heard Place of Skulls, do yourself a favor and GET IT. It's a great CD with tons of hooks and goes to show that Southern Lord can never let you down release wise...another fine one:) Get it for the sake of groove doom rock...some of the best yet!
