Rob: How did it all start?
Eli: WellGod, in his infinite wisdom and might, looked upon the void and was displeased. So he up and said `Let there be light`, and then all of a sudden things got a whole lot less dark. But then he was bored, so he made planets and stuff. Then he made humans, and it kind of snowballed from there.
Rob: What are some of the better bands around and why?
Eli: Uh, some of the better bandsCherry Valence from Raliegh, NCThe Fucking Champs from San FranciscoHigh on Fires goodWeen The Cripe Jergensen SingersWhy? Three reasons: chops, energy and attitude.
Rob: How often do you look at what`s popular in music and just want to puke?
Eli: Ah, that kind of thing doesnt bother us too muchlet the people listen to what makes em happy. If they have bad taste, so be it. Except for rare circumstances, the general public usually has a bad track record, so in order for everyone to like our music we would probably have to make it pretty lame.
Rob: Do you know the guys in Lost Goat?
Eli: Yes, and we have yet to meet more kind, intelligent and all around congenial people. Another one of the better bands.
Rob: How often do you guys practice?
Eli: Three times a week, two hours a practice.
Rob: What are some of the best shows you have played?
Eli: The ones where everyone in the band is locked in and the crowd is into itits rare when both mesh perfectly. It doesnt have to be a big crowd or anythingwhen we can pull off something totally improvised and make it sound like we practiced it for months.
Rob: Man`s Ruin ...
Eli: Liquor,liquor, pills and porno.
Rob: Who writes, who organizes, who destroys?
Eli: Eli (guitar, vocality) usually writes the parts at home and the whole band puts them together in a rather protracted process during practice sessions. Songs go through many permutations until they are finally unleashed. Hotly disputed negotiations ensue. Many casualities.
Rob: What are some words of wisdom to kids who listen to your music??? (hehehe...)
Eli: Listen to more than rock and roll. Open your ears to all kinds of music. Try not to write off stuff youve never really given a chance. Jack off with your left hand it feels like someone else is doin it.
Rob: How long have you been together and how many members...
Eli: Weve been together about 4 years. Cyrus- bass, Cripe- drummms, John- guitar, Eli -guitar, vocalese
Rob: What are some of your common likes among the band members...like what bands do you all share influences with?
Eli: I think it can safely be said that we all like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Prince, King Crimson. You know, the basics.
Rob: Here are the silly ones...
If you weren`t a rocker, what would you most like to be?
Eli: Smart.
Rob: What was your worst gig and why? What was your best gig and why?
Eli: Shit, Worst gig? The Black Cat in D.C. Two people showed up and one of them was the roadies father in law. Best gig? Theyre all good compared to that one.
Rob: Top 3 movies, books and albums of all time?
Eli: Same answer for all 3: Planet of the Apes.
Rob: How often do you surf the net and what do you mostly do while online?
Eli: What? So you can sell our consumer information to AOL? Nice try
Rob: What is your favourite city and venue to play, and why?
Eli: Wellone of the best clubs in the country is Kings in Raliegh, NC. `Where people still actually care about music.` Great people, good venue. All around great time.
Rob: What is the most Rock `n` Roll thing you`ve ever done?
Eli: We started a Rock and Roll band.
Rob: What`s the most Rock `n` Roll thing you`ve seen someone else do?
Eli: Wring out their sweat-soaked socks in a van full of people.
Rob: What`s your worst `bad trip` story?
Eli: Were still trippin, man.
Rob: What`s the most painful thing you have ever witnessed at a rock show?
Eli: Butter, `Smackdown`
Rob: How old were you when you first realize you wanted to rock?
Eli: However old we were when we realized that we had to get jobs.
Rob: What`s the most embrassing job you ever had?
Eli: Do hand jobs count?
Rob: What`s your favourite ice cream flavor?
Eli: Are you joking?
Rob: If you could date any rock star Dead or Alive in the world, who would it be? Movie star?
Eli: We never were big fans of Dead or Alive.
Rob: What would be the ultimate dream gig of all time line-up be, with your band opening? Limit to 3 bands please (including your own...) and where?
Eli: Dream Gig: Jammin with Peter and Paul (fuck Mary)
