Accolades for Sov Gott
Svarte Pan is a Swedish band combining influences of classic 70s hard rock with ingredients from the Swedish prog scene that was quite happening around the same time. So imagine heavy Tony Iommi riffs with some more progressive leanings and quite personal lyrics in Swedish. Holmdn has that raw "everybody can sing" type of attitude that was apparent in the 70s. I would assume it could scare away some listeners who are more accustomed to clean and technically perfect singers, but to me it just adds to the charm of Svarte Pan. They certainly have created a very 70s vibe which is further emphasized in the cyrstal clear production.Yet it has that pure raw power of the 70s giving the CD a "warts and all" feel. I find myself smiling quite a lot listening through the CD. The tip of the hat to the 70s is perfectly executed and leaves me with a pleasant feeling.
If you like Swedish bands like November and Abramis Brama you should definitely pick up this album. Most of the songs have a blues based 70s hardrock vibe that I really like. Just take a listen to the opening track Kriga. Talk about a killer groove!
